Mirabelle 🎀 That’s right! I know a lot of people already asked for Vaugarde to be saved, but I thought I’d ask too, since…

Odile 👓 Are you worried about tomorrow? 

Mirabelle 🎀 Hmrgh… 

{You nervously clasp your hands together. Odile looks up at the tree.}

Odile 👓 The Favor Trees aren’t really part of the Change belief, right?

Mirabelle 🎀 No… The Change God doesn’t grant favors. It’s more of a myth here in Vaugarde, but lately people have taken it more seriously because of the King…

{You take a breath.}

Mirabelle 🎀 Are you going to ask for a favor, Madame?

Odile 👓 Probably not… Forgive my pessimism, but I don’t see the point in relying on a mere myth.

Mirabelle 🎀 Oh…

{You both remain silent for a moment}

Mirabelle 🎀 Is there something you believe in?

Odile 👓 Religiously you mean? Well, in Ka Bue, we don’t really have Gods. They’re more like… Expressions? You’d pray to the ones you need the most currently in your life. I have been reaching out to the Expression of Battle and the Expression of Victory among others, for example.

Mirabelle 🎀 …Do you believe we will beat the King tomorrow?

Odile 👓 …Do you want my honest answer?

{You bite your lip. Odile looks to the ground. You don’t want to dwell on this.}

Mirabelle 🎀 Um, you know, Siffrin actually showed me how to wish on a tree once!

Odile 👓 Is that any different than asking for a favor?

Mirabelle 🎀 I think? You do it differently and he seems to believe in it more than most people…

Odile 👓 And how would that work?

{You smile, relieved that Odile goes along with the change in subject. You look around, pick up a leaf from the floor, and hold it up to show it to her.}

Mirabelle 🎀 First, you have to pick a leaf that represents yourself!

{Odile listens curiously.}

Mirabelle 🎀 Then you have to breathe your wish into the leaf three times and fold the leaf.

{To demonstrate, you hold the leaf close to your mouth and whisper.}

{You wish for the King to be defeated. You wish for all of you to make it. You wish for Vaugarde to be saved.}

{You fold the leaf, holding it like this for several moments, before letting it be carried away by a breeze.}

Odile 👓 Hm… I take it this isn’t a Vaugardian practice. Has Siffrin ever told you where they learned this ritual?

Mirabelle 🎀 They haven’t. But I thought it might be worth trying, seeing as he puts more faith into it, and I… I shouldn’t be saying this, I know it’s on me to bring about change, but I don’t think I can do this alone. 

{Odile gave you a look and for a moment, you were worried she was judging you. Instead, her expression shifted into a smirk.}

Odile 👓 You’re not planning to go to the House alone, are you?

Mirabelle 🎀 HUH?!?

Odile 👓 Because unless you are, you aren’t alone.

Mirabelle 🎀 MADAME!!

{Odile laughs, and you sigh.}

Mirabelle 🎀 Don’t scare me like this again!

Odile 👓 I didn’t mean to. But it snapped you out of something, no?

Mirabelle 🎀 I suppose…

{She isn’t wrong. You feel… not calmer, but not as anxious either.}

Odile 👓 Now then,

{To your surprise, Odile picks up a leaf.}

Mirabelle 🎀 Are you going to make a wish?

Odile 👓 As you said, Siffrin puts more faith into it than Vaugardians have for the Favor Trees. No harm in trying.

{You watch as Odile repeats the ritual you showed her. You are a little curious about what she whispers into the leaf, but decide not to ask. After folding it, Odile lets go of the leaf, letting it fly off.}

Odile 👓 Now, I still have to stock up in the shop for tomorrow. I’d like to rely on more than a wish for us to make it to the King. I’ll be seeing you in the clocktower, Mirabelle.

{You nod with a smile.}

Mirabelle 🎀 I’ll see you then!

I wonder how would RoD Kazuichi and Mikan would get along...

Okay so this actually gave me quite a lot of thoughts lol, for starters I think they do mostly get along okay, at least for remnants. It helps that these two didn’t really have any predetermined relationships going in, like I don’t think they were too close in class or interacted all that much.

As remnants however it’s a whole other story. Because like, Kazuichi gets hurt a lot. Be it from the future foundation, another remnant, or his own inventions backfiring, there’s pretty much always something going wrong. And because Kazuichi was in charge of some pretty vital things like the killing game executions and the pollution machines, it’s important he stays in working condition, which means someone has to come and treat his wounds, and that of course is Mikan.

Mikan likes the visits because she loves taking care of everyone, especially as remnants because haha these super strong global terrorists still need her to come fix their boo boo's. Kazuichi isn’t as much of a fan since being healthy is for lame hope filled losers and like, pain is really really good for despair. But the check ups were ordered by Junko originally so he can’t do more than grumble about it lol.

I think they probably gossip about the others a lot, and maybe work of fun bio weapons together too lol. Lowkey they’ve got such potential as a remnant duo. I have thoughts for how they’d go together in a non despair setting but that’s another time lol

remnants character recurrences and theories

Okay. I convinced my best friend to listen to remnants and she loves it just as much as I do. We just had a very long facetime call where we poured over the transcripts. I believe we have identified each character recurrence in the podcast so far. You can see these connections plus some theories below :) (I might be spelling some of the names wrong I'm very sorry if I am) (Might not be 100% in order either but it should make sense)

Benoit is Celine's son in episode 1 and in episode 4 he talks with and kisses Marcus.

Lord Du Perier is in episode 1, he is the person that Celine has a relationship with and we know that he is married at this time. It is mentioned that Du Perier is not his real name. In episode 7 we meet his daughter Amelie and he calls himself Teddy.

Sarah is the nanny in episode 2 of both Paige and Christopher. She is mentioned in episode 9 as being Paige and Jonny's nanny and as being assaulted by Christian, falling pregnant with his child.

Mr Jones is the Bevan family (Paige, Jonny, Maud and Christian)'s gardener and also seemingly the landlord of Annie and Sally as is mentioned in episodes 9 and 10.

Christian and Maud are the parents of Paige and Jonny. They are mentioned in episodes 2, 6 and 9. Christian is who Eliza, from episode 6, is in a relationship with. It is mentioned that he has a young wife, Maud and that the Glanville family is friendly with the Bevans. It is assumed that Christian is the father of Eliza's child, though in episode 9 Maud doubts that this is the case, saying that the son does not look like how Christian's children usually do. It is said that Pearl sent a letter claiming that Christian is the father and also that Eliza died in childbirth.

Edward Pocket is the adopted son of the Pocket's as is mentioned in episodes 9 and 10. In episode 10 Sally says that he died along with his parents; however, in episode 9 Annie meets him after coming back and he claims that Sally died saving him. We know that this is not truly Edward, rather it is someone impersonating him, because he does not have the eye colour that Annie remembers and he does not know that he is adopted. He takes over the law firm Cratchet and Pocket. Interestingly, he appears in episode 3 as the solicitor who gives Gerald Simmeon's will (the scream I scrumpt when we discovered that omg). It seems to be implied that Ted could be impersonating Edward because he would know about Victor and Sally as Edward does when he meets Annie in episode 10. However, he mentions Victor having a sister and Victor only ever mentioned a brother.

I strongly believe that whoever is impersonating Edward Pocket is connected to at least Annie's murder, indicating that he might be connected to the others as well.

Very interesting that in this episode it was revealed that A practically is a remnant himself. Does this mean that Sir’s insistence that A judge the remnants is more so that he can judge A and work out how to process him? Is all of this not actually about sorting the remnants at all and more about sorting A? I’m not sure. 

Also I'm thinking the sentient dust might be like, the consciousness from discarded remnants. That’s a TRUE crackpot theory though.

The moths from the podcast cover being the moth-like letters of the apprentice written across whatever extreme amount of time is very interesting.

The music box is also very interesting in that it appeared both times A’s memory got wiped. I also mentally connect it with episode 6 beyond that, because the song it is playing is from Swan Lake and Eliza dreamed of being a ballet dancer. Which COULD mean NOTHING. If we get a remnant that is a music box I'll literally scream. Especially if it ends up being Eliza's.
